Scottish Terrier Mix Grooming

Post by rockinmommy88 »

I adopted a Scottish Terrier/Cairn Terrier Mix yesterday and I am just trying to get all of the information about the breed and her that I can. (Well, that I haven't already gotten!)

My question today is, how often should she be groomed? Professionally I mean.

Will she need her hair cut? I see that both of those breeds seem to have long hair and at the moment hers is pretty short so I would assume so.

Anything else I need to know about this breed and grooming?!

Thank you!!!

Denise :)

Hi, I have had Scottish terriers for a number of years now -usually have them trimmed professtionally 3/4 times a year - never between end October and end of March (UK). In summer I have the coat trimmed quite short, keeping a short skirt and the Scottie head shape I bath if they become a bit too doggy smelling as my dog lives in the house with us; otherwise I brush regularly which gets rit of dry dust/dirt and keeps the coat untangled and looking good - important as Sctties have a two layer coat. I also check paws after walks and bath them if weather is mucky.
Your new dog sounds lovely - hope you have lots of love and fun.
