4th of July w/ new puppy

Post by Zeldacorgi »

2 days leading up to 4th of July I tried Emmabeth's suggestion of treating Zelda and "having a party" everytime we heard a firework go off. Before we started doing that, Zelda would hide underneath one of our side tables. I have a super funny, smart puppy! By the end of July 3rd, I got her to the point where everytime she heard a firework, she's come running to me for a treat. Even still, I was a bit nervous about 4th of July. All for no reason. She was completely fine with all the fireworks. I'd treat her occasionally when we heard them, but she didn't seem anxious at all. Even during the most heavy bombing hour, she managed to take a nap.

So yay! Thanks for the suggestion.

Well done, you have done a really good job with Zelda and seen how quickly postive reinforcement works.
