my puppy eats cat poop while in our yard

hi all-

just wondering how to teach my dog to not eat the cat poop in the yard from all the neighboorhood strays. we have gotten him to ignore the indoor kitty box and would like to find a way to get him to not eat the kitty poop that is outside. we just bought a house and have a fenced yard but the cats sneak in and we would love to let our little mini schnauzer run around for hours but if he is outside for more then 10 minutes he finds it and eats it. I am very afraid he will get sick from this and his beard stinks!

I know that this is a non-training answer, but I have been told by a couple of vets that dogs eat poop because they are lacking phosphorous in their diet. When my puppy started showing an interest in poop, I just added a few banana chunks to his breakfast every morning. No interest in poop since. I have since used bananas, apples, and carrots as training treats, as well as part of his food.
