Activity needs

Post by master2 »

Hiya

I am keen to get a third dog in the near future to compete in Agility and maybe join my local flyball team. However neither Watson ( Italian spinion he does not enjoy either)or Sherlock (GSD he is not fit enough vets orders) are sutible. So am between the lab and the border collie. But my question is I would only be able to do these sports around 3x a week.

Would either be happy with normal walks during the other 4x a week or would doing sports make them more hyper needing to do these sports everyday?

I think you need either to widen your remit dogwise or choose another hobby.

Border collies need a vast amount of occupation every day of the week, and easily become hyper at the thought of doing - anything. Labs are not ideal physically for agility, especially as they can develop hip and elbow issues very easily from jumping, twisting and turning.

Three dogs can be really demanding to keep, especially for exercising. Think well whether you really want this.
