Is rawhide safe for dogs?

Post by master2 »

Hi

I'm talking about the big bones that petsathome sell at Christmas time in Turkey flavour.

As both my dogs showedcan interest in them last Christmas and I did not buy one as I thought they were not safe? Are they?

No.

They are full of chemical preservatives and colouring. There is also a significant risk of dogs swallowing big lumps and causing an intestinal blockage.

Good for you that you did not buy them. Every Christmas some kind person buys my dogs unsuitable "treats" and after they have gone, I bin them.

I echo Nettle.

Try antlers, bully sticks, or make you own jerky instead (no store-bought jerkies).
