Packs

Post by mansbestfriend »

Hi. A quick question - Is there a way to divide one large-ish pack of pet mince into several smaller packs, without needing a big cleanup afterwards (EG: a 2 kilogram pack divided into 8x250grams)? The idea being to divide it into 250g portions, freeze them all, and only thaw one 250g pack/portion each day. Basically it's the big mess all over the chopping board and benchtop that I'm trying to avoid. Is it possible? Thanks for any advice. :)

I previously also tried freezing the pack in one big lump then chopping it into pieces when frozen, but it's just as messy (at least it is the way I do it :( ).

Try half-freezing it (or freezing it and letting it half-thaw in the fridge) to a point where it retains its shape when you slice it. I know re-freezing food is supposed to be a no-no, but it's fine if it doesn't warm up for any length of time.
