Barking in the car

Post by bendog »

Molly is a lovely lady and on the whole been no problem here. She has great dog manners, good off lead, loves walks (and is easily doing 6 miles a day is that too much for an old dog - she doesn't seem in any pain from it and doesn't tire either) but settles well in the house (except after dinner when she wants to play).

My problem is that she tends to bark down your ear whilst we are driving anywhere. And since I use the car to get to 90% of our walks that is annoying! It's no major big deal as she's going home in July anyway and I can just ignore it. But it would make life easier if I could get her to shut up!

She also barks at the postman and barks when waiting to have her lead out on, and when it's dinner time. I can deal with these. But not sure how to manage the barking in the car especially as if I'm driving I can't dole out treats etc.
