My superstars :)

Post by bendog »

Proud of all my doggies this past few days. We brought home Charlie and not one of them has complained. The first night was spent preventing Poppy from humping him but she does seem to have got the idea and only tried twice yesterday at her normal "humpy time" when she usually goes for Ben. Sash is the undisputed boss of the house and only tolerates the others if they leave her alone. But Charlies lovely wiggly greetings have meant that sometimes she has even forgotten to growl at him for sniffing her bum

Poppy, Ben and Charlie all had a raw egg each in the garden together this morning with no issues. Been on walks together with no issues. No arguments over toys (thankfully we have at least 2 of most of our toys!) or even sofa space or beds. Travelled in the car together fine.

When I got home from Uni last night I had Ben, Poppy, and Charlie all trying to simultaneously fit on my knee

Also, having Charlie around has made me appreciate just how well behaved my dogs actually are. They all have their moments (they are terriers after all  ), but they seem so calm compared to Charlie. Doing exactly what they are told first time 90% of the time. Charlie is very very good but also very energetic and hyper and can forget to listen and doesn't have much impulse control. Maybe it's just because Poppy has grown up with older dogs, or because she's a worker and doesn't do silliness, but despite being a similar age (perhaps even slightly younger) to Charlie she seems so serious! Going through some basic training with Charlie earlier to determine what he knows (which seems to just be "sit") and so we were practising down, stay etc and Pop was doing it all with me perfectly and just made me so proud.

And honestly just look at my wonderful beautiful dog reactive boy chilling out with Charlie here:

Couldn't ask for any more from him, or from any of them.

That's a very well managed pack you have there, Bendog. Somehow, they all look right together....

shush - Charlie isn't staying! My Nan is meeting him on Sunday and hopefully going to fall in love.

He's been a star too though. Very little formal training but he knows sit and so we have been expecting him to sit for everything (lead on, go out of door, toy thrown, dinner etc) and he is catching on.
Bless the lad he's certainly not shy and shows no sign of missing his old home! Will be sad to see him go.

We've been getting some looks walking down the road with them all!

Fantastic photos as usual, another great action shot - how do you do it hehe :D They look great together.

We'll revisit these posts and just see how many terriers you have, I bet 4 hasn't been as hectic as you thought? Charlie sounds like a lovely little chap :D

That's it, this multi dog stuff is easy, I'm getting the other 19 chihuahuas I wanted and a sleigh for them to pull in winter

Seriously, so glad you've rescued another dog from a less than ideal life :D Where did you find him given what we were all saying about none of us would manage to get a rescue dog  :D

Someone Graeme heard of that was "relocating" down south and didn't want the dogs. To be fair I think he did like them, just didn't have a clue that he was being cruel letting him get so fat. In every other way Charlie is perfect.

You should totally get 19 more chis! It would be hilarious. We would love to keep Charlie and we will if my nan doesn't want him but really although it is lovely having four dogs and not really any harder than having three I do feel it may be considered excessive!

Oh my god, your nan doesn't know yet does she and although I'm guessing it's unlikely you could end up with 4 terriers  Emmabeth needs to delete all your posts you're such a bad example

As for me and 19 more chis ... that's still less dog weight than Ari twice :D so nothing really, it would be no work at all

Haha my nan still swearing she doesn't want a dog but we all know she does deep down! Either way, if we do keep him we won't mind :) evens out the numbers (2 girls, 2 boys) so its win win :D he's no bother. Almost forget he's here til he plonks himself on your stomach for a hug.

Anything over 20 would be excessive *stumbles off to look for the other 19 chis*. I'm not sure I could even go to a rescue, I'd end up wanting to ake them all. Watched the new Battersea thing today, 8 mins in and I'm crying

We have decided that our dog ownership levels are at maximum when they can't all simultaneously fit on the bed or sofa, so 20 chis would be fine, 20 great Danes less so (but probably less work!)

well done bendog.

My wife worries every time I mention maybe volunteering at the local shelter that I will be adding dogs to the house. fortunately Jack's needs are TOP priority and would prevent adding any dogs. He would probably do ok with a female dog about his size.....maybe. But I know him, he seems to have limited social stamina and needs a break from other dogs after a short period of time.
