I am home - and introducing Ellie

Post by emmabeth »

No pics yet, I am a bit dizzy from too long in the sun and too long on the motorway...

But - I have spent 3 and a half days down south with friends, collecting my newwwwww doglet, Ellie (formerly Molly).

I kept quiet about this because I wasnt entirely sure it would all work out, and we did only lose Abby dog very recently so I was in no real rush to get another - we had decided to wait until one found us.... and Ellie pretty much did!

Sooo.. she was all the way down south (get any more south than where she lived.. and you end up wet.. or in France!) and im most of the way up north, I arranged to stay with some really lovely friends of mine (super lovely to allow us to bring all four dogs and then a fifth unknown quantity, into their home with their lovely dogs).

Ellie arrived on saturday morning and was introduced slowly and calmly to all my dogs - then we started with my friends labradors and ther ewas a minor spat, which was over before it started and really wasnt anyones fault. Shes quite anxious and nervous and is also worried about being told off, but she got more and more confident as the weekend went on, and by this morning was flinging herself around the garden playing with Kelda and Rocky!

Ill get some pictures up tomorrow as I really have to go to bed (i have gone a bit dizzy i think due to sunburn + four and a half hours in van) but shes so pretty, saluki x afghan - sufficiently like Abby to fulfill my need for *that* sort of dog - and sufficiently not like Abby that she doesnt constantly remind me of her in a sad way.

Congratulations to all of you! Wishing you happy beginnings and fun days getting to
know your new girl. She sounds lovely, and she's lucky to have found you, even if
she did make it geographically tough to reach her :D

Congratulations on your new addition to your "furry family", Emmabeth! :D

Now get treating those sunburns! I know how you feel because I'm sunburned from being outside cleaning my yard!
