That is a really cool, unique birthday gift! Interesting that if you complain they come back with something totally different!!
I would love to have Abby's done someday, although I'm pretty sure all it would come up with is boxer/pit bull.

Re: Blood donor dogs are more than man's best friend
Your dog didn't save lives, she was forced and used to give blood. The human took it and called it a donation, not the dog. The dog didn't randomly walk into the vet's office and sign up to do it. Animals cannot donate anything or volunteer for anything, even though humans are the ones that claim t...

Re: Blood donor dogs are more than man's best friend
Abby was a blood donor dog at the vet clinic where I used to work before we brought her home. I saw her save many dogs while she was there. She was really cool about it-she'd just lay there while they took her blood. Yet another reason why she could quite possibly be the best dog ever!

Re: Dogs Help Cheetahs Overcome Breeding Fears
I saw this earlier this morning as well. I was also reading some of the comments (not sure how accurate they are, of course) that said that cheetah's claws don't retract so they're more like dog claws, and their hips/femurs are very similar to dogs rather than other big cats. Pretty cool stuff!

Chelsea the 8 yo Ridgeback
We've stayed involved with the Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue that helped us find Neo her new home, and last weekend they asked us if we could transport a senior girl to her foster home in Austin, which is only about 2.5 hours away. Eventually she will go to her forever home in Colorado! Her name is Che...

Ari is such a kind gentleman! I know he would be enamored by Abby . Thanks for the reinforcement, Nettle. I suspected that this was probably fine but no one wants to think they're damaging their children!

Re: Ari at his observation post
I'm struggling with the sofa throw... I put it on last thing at night, the next day Jasper snoozes on it and drops mud all over it, and when I want to sit down in the evening and don't want to sit in the dirt, I flick it off and the dirt ends up falling off the throw (OK, old curtain) onto either t...

"Sheltering" Abby?
As most of you know, I used to have 2 dogs-Neo and Abby. In January, Abby was attacked by Neo (not the first time it happened), and required emergency room care. It was the scariest thing that I have ever witnessed and I had PTSD-like symptoms for months afterward. Every time a door opened, I had fl...

Abby will lay flat on her back when she knows she has to get on the scale! Poor Odin, he's just sensitive about his weight!

Re: 2 dogs in a tense stand off
I won't lie, I had some anxiety while I was reading that. Because of our previous awful experiences with Abby being attacked by Neo, I will never be comfortable having Abby off-leash around other off-leash dogs. Right or wrong, I just can't take it. Husband says he's ready to take her to the dog par...
