Re: So I'm at a loss
Thank you both, 2nd point first... I have a big scary looking dog who doesn't like strangers too close. And while he doesn't act crazy, he can be very intimidating with his intense stare and low growling, if we are passing a person whom he for some reason doesn't like. But what I learned is that the...

Re: Does this really make a difference?
I agree with Ari and Judy. To me being my dogs leader mean protecting them. In a wolf pack the alpha pair protects and keeps their family together. Being a leader mean just this to me. I don't care if my dog sees is as omg shes my leader or not. My dogs trust me because I've never allowed them to be...

Re: Does this really make a difference?
Wilkie, You make it seem like its hard stead fast your either the boss or a unit. Dogs are very much like children you have to be their friend but also in charge. There is a blance to everything. I haven't been training for long a few years 3 ish I believe. My favorite trainers are Victoria and Cesa...

Re: Need help with some small corrections for rescue dog
With clicker training you must still give the comand. The click does not tell the dog what to do. even using you tongue to make the sound works I do this when I forget mine. So it would be Ginji Sit *tongue click* treat. I have to admit that my dogs have to wait for their food. Everyone must sit, lo...

Re: Need help with some small corrections for rescue dog
I'm not a dog trainer by any means but I've learned a lot over the last year with my dogs and i may have a few tips. 4 weeks ago we adopted a border collie mix she's roughly 6 months and has some of the same issues. We got her a no pull harness and do a lot of work not only outside but inside. We us...

Re: bored dog help
Lady its not 2 hours of non stop training thats just the time frame in which I work with both dogs or just her. I never 2 hours straight. Its more like 10 to 15 minutes because this is the first time she's ever had to learn sit stay and all that. 2 hours is a long time for a poor dog to have to trai...

Re: bored dog help
She will be doing agility. My local area has a clicker training center which both my dogs will be joining in august. (do to the wedding this month.) But she's going through basic obedience and then advanced. She'll be able to go onto agility where my boy is going on to something else. Right now shes...
