Re: Therapy work
the uniform thing is exactly what i was thinking of when i asked. so would i just ask or a sit when someone approaches to pet him (one of the requirements for the CGC was that he did that but i haven't been super strict on enforcing it. at the time i was more concerned about getting him to like peo...

I looked into this too, when I got Pixie as a pup, since I personally would love to do it. Pixie seemed well suited when she was younger, but as she matured, I realised she wasn't right for it, at least at this stage of her life. She usually takes a couple of meetings to warm up to people now, and r...

Thanks shalista Do you think it even sound like sciatica, shalista as she's had it over a year now and the pain is not just in both legs and back its also in her left ribcage, in her right collar bone leading down to her shoulder and arm. She also gets hot flashes , restless legs, muscle spasms, mi...

Re: Moving house... part time dog?
So, update now that I've seen the place.... I LOVE IT!!! It's spacious enough, all lovely and freshly decorated, and the bus connections are regular, with a bus stop just around the corner. The downstairs neighbour (it's a two story maisonette type place, with our own separate entrances and gardens)...

Re: Scared and grossed out need help!!!!
I haven't seen mould mites before, but I know that mould is hazardous to human and animal health, so I'd be looking to eradicate the root of the problem as well as the mites. Perhaps call in a professional fumigator. If you got rid of the mouldy wardrobe, that's a start, but the thing with mould is ...

Re: Moving house... part time dog?
Are there any other ways you can avoid isolation? According to one site (almost definitely with a lot of positive spin) 'It has a bohemian aspect and is home to many creative people, looking for affordable housing and a sense of community. There are plenty of bands, political and pressure groups, h...

Re: Moving house... part time dog?
Aaaww, bless you Judy, you even looked it up for me! Love ya. You're right, I definitely need to look for the positives. For one thing, since it's right on the outskirts, there's some beautiful countryside right there that Pixie and I would love. I think I'm just a bit nervous about it all, and disa...

Re: Moving house... part time dog?
I have a lot to think about....! I'm hoping I'll have a better idea of what to do once I've seen the place on Thursday, and had a chance to look around the area a bit. If I turn this one down, I do get bumped down the urgency list. They don't let you be fussy any more. You used to be allowed three r...

Re: Moving house... part time dog?
But selfishly... I miss her so much. I want her living with me. I lived in Montpelier for about a year when I first came out of hospital, it's still about the same! I lived in Easton for five years before, which has a terrible reputation, and isn't the prettiest area by any means. But I never had an...

Moving house... part time dog?
Hello all, this is rather personal and I tend to waffle, so please bear with me. Since I had a breakdown and was hospitalised three years ago, I've been in supported housing, on the bidding/waiting list for a council flat. Pixie has been living with my folks and their dog, Jack. I spend the odd week...

Re: Talking while not training
Hey so quick question. I talk to Bax all the time. It's one of our traditions that I tell him if the stars are out on our last walk of the night. (Being a dog he never looks up to check for himself. ) what I'm wondering is if this is detrimental to training? Will he ignore my ques because he just t...

Re: Aggressive English Bulldog Puppy
I am having the same issues with my 11 week bulldog. ..any advice? It's usually better to start your own thread rather than tag onto an old one, since most people won't see it. The advice given above is excellent though, you just need to be consistent and patient with it! The land shark phase is to...

Re: New to the forum
As well as the excellent advice you're already been given, I really wanted to link you to this thread, http://positively.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=6123 where the very knowledgable trainer, Nettle, explains something that I think a lot of dog owners don't understand, or feel bad about. I thi...

Mine is worse in the winter too, the changes in temperature and drying affect of wind and central heating I believe. Mine only came on when I was in my mid to late twenties, and I'm thirty three now. Luckily, it's never been as bad as it was when it first attacked and was misdiagnosed then identifie...
