They talked a lot about how everything Presley does now, he learned while at the Academy, and that before this, Travis was the guy at the dog park with the out-of-control dog. Since everyone else seems to have some sort of training background or a dog with a special skill (Tillman skateboarding, for...

Episode 08: My Dog Can Fly! - thoughts?
I thought I would start a thread on last night's episode so the posts can go in one place rather than several different posts about the same episode.
Any thoughts on last night's episode?

Thank you, both of you for your comments. I am not going to be worried anymore and just do my best to diffuse any situations (I tried Victoria's method of distracting and giving treats for being quiet when the plumber came last week and it worked). (PS, I'm impressed that you can get him to run alon...

Re: A puppy 0 to 2 years old.
Young Adulthood 18-24 months Many dogs may show a rise in aggression levels during this time. They may become protective and territorial and take advantage of any relaxation of the guidelines set by the owner. My black lab mix is 12 months old and he hasn't been vocal at all since we got him from t...

Agreed with everyone that crate isn't a punishment. My 12-month old Lab is crated at night and during the day when we're at work. We have two Kong toys that are ONLY for the crate for during the day. As soon as Murphy sees those two Kongs, he runs into the crate. He only gets them during the day tho...

I now use a sporn halter and as soon as Belgian sees it all i see is a brown blur heading to the door doing what I call a labbie dance. My dog actually wants to take a walk now. I also use a Sporn on Murphy (Lab mix) and when I take it out and have him sniff it he stands still for me so I can put i...

We crate our dog and for the first few days after we brought him home from the shelter, he would whine if we didn't open the crate right away, but we knew it was important to ignore him for a few minutes before acknowledging him, so we persisted. Now we can wait long enough to come in, put our thing...

We were giving Murphy Purina Dog Chow because that's what the shelter was feeding him. He had a loose stool problem as well. We're transitioning to Eukanuba now, and we're adding veggies (via babyfood, the kind with veggies and water as the only ingredients) and plain fat free yogurt for calcium. We...

In the episode where the Black Lab was eating his own poo, Victoria suggested adding pineapple to his diet so that his poo would taste bad to him. Maybe you could give that a try first instead of buying products? Murphy likes to eat other dogs' poo when we're on our walks (don't get me started on pe...

I use a Sporn on my Murphy when we're on our long walks and it works like a dream. In under a minute he understood what was happening and stopped pulling. When we are close to the dog park he starts to pull a little because he gets excited for playtime, but it takes very little effort for me to gent...
