Re: Rhodesian ridgeback

Hi. Just wondering if this is still an active thread? I have a four year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, and happy to pass on my thoughts on the subject ... There has been some controversy about the breed regarding the ridge, but most of that controversy is misguided and untrue. There are three main areas ...

Re: Monthly Photo Comp (trial!)

I don't have any pics that make me outright laugh, but this one always makes me smile, which is close. Odin loves to climb on stuff, but brave little Pippen in the background really doesn't. He just wants to do what the big boys do. Aw bless.. Edit : And yes, he did climb up there himself. 1 h...

Re: Puppy Playing vs. Puppy Fighting???

Wow, I just read that other thread about puppies, especially sibling puppies. Never knew they could be so difficult. It's not common knowledge around these parts. I still stand by the idea of getting them socialised, but even then, when I say I threw mine in the deep end, I didn't literally chuck th...

Re: Puppy Playing vs. Puppy Fighting???

I'm new here, so don't listen to my opinion if you don't want to, but I have quite a gap in size between my 2 dogs. I wouldn't be too worried, - unless it's getting out of control. Size wise, my Border Terrier puppy was tiny, and had to put up with a hefty and boisterous 18 month old Rhodesian Ridge...

Re: Odin and Pippen. - Rhod. Ridgeback & Border T.

Thanks again. Not so much sit on your lap as "Hey, I think you're in my seat!" Odin has a thing for heights. Always has had since he was a pup. I'm sure his great, great, great grandfather was a mountain goat, because it's definitely not normal. (But it is very charming). http://i118...

Re: Little advice please...

There are some things he likes, but they're not very practical as treats. He loves milk, though he rarely gets it, and wrappers for meat. If you're cooking anything from sausages to bacon, he adores licking the plastic wrapper it comes in. He loves the fat, especially warm and drippy. It's pretty gr...

Re: Odin and Pippen. - Rhod. Ridgeback & Border T.

Thank you very much. I must confess I feel very lucky, for a Ridgeback, I couldn't have a better one than Odin, and for a Border Terrier, Pippen is just about perfect too. I suspect I could possibly show either one of them, although Odin is a little on the big side. (I hasten to add he is just large...

Odin and Pippen. - Rhod. Ridgeback & Border T.

Hi. Here are my dogs, Odin and Pippen. Odin is nearly 4, and Pippen will be 3 next April. Kennel club says a Ridgeback dog should be 35kg, but Odin is a bit big, and was 50Kg last time he was weighed. That's about 8 stone, but I'm not complaining. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z422/FlybyPC/Odi...

Re: Little advice please...

Thanks Emmabeth, I'll give that a go. You may be right about him being 'here' already. He doesn't misbehave normally, he's not doing it for mischief, but I could never understand why he was doing it, or what he's thinking. An extra frustration is when I call to have Odin catch up, I invariably have ...

Re: Should I get the vet to trim his nails?

I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback who hates getting his nals clipped, absolutely hates it. We have a very good local Vets, and one of the girls managed to clip a nail quickly while the dog was distracted, but after 4 or 5 nails, he worked out what was happening and that was the end of that. Sometimes he'...

Little advice please...

Hi. I'm new here, and apologise to introduce myself by asking for your advice straight away. I have read the advice about checking previous threads which have common topics covered already, but I haven't been able to find anything which relates specifically to my problem. I have two dogs, a Rhodesia...
