Re: HOT DOGS
Bax used lightly warmed hot dog as his treat of choice for the first few months. He never had a reaction but did pack on some pounds.

Re: Smelly liquid uses
ooo homemade biscuits is a great idea. Anyone have a good recipe i could it to (or a link to one on a dif thread) that i could use? I like to break his treats into tiny, tiny pieces and give him lots so he gets frequent reinforcement with fewer calories. (he tends to chub up a bit)

Re: Smelly liquid uses
It's some kind of fish sauce. I checked the ingredients and nothing looked dangerous, probably a bit salty and VERY fishy.
Like I said, I've never seen him go so crazy for something and i want to tap into it.

Smelly liquid uses
So i recently found a liquid that my dog Bax goes NUTS for. Absolutely LOVES it. My problem is thinking of a good application for it. I cant really use it as a reward cause its the consistency of water, unless i carried around a tablespoon to serve it to him it wouldn't work very well. My mom though...

Re: Marking in public
On topic with the marking I just felt like an update was in order! Today I took Bax into the country store and he didn't mark once. I confess I did it with some speed so he wouldn't be tempted but I wasn't quite running so I still count it as a win. I had never noticed that he did the sideways sniff...

Re: Dog chases animals on TV
No idea for a fix, but I'd love to see the replies. My 1.5yr old rat terrier barks and whines at animals on my computer.
He'll sit in my lap and watch Meercat Manor till my eyes are bleeding though.

Re: Marking in public
Thanks everyone, I cant wait to take him out and practice! I do however have an unrelated question. (I'd put it in it's own thread but I've made 2 in as many days and I'd feel guilty. Bax is my first dog and while my parents always had dogs when i was a kid they went the whole "choke collars an...

Re: Marking in public
I've worked alot with doing training similar to the Yer Choice stuff and love how its helped in other areas for him. Good to know it might cross over into this area to! His leave it could use some work though so I know what we'll be practicing! one last question, when he starts to sniff around and m...

Re: Prey Drive Question
Thanks for the advice, I took him repeatedly past the chickens on a short leash and he seems to be fine with them. The moment they startled though and started to run he kicked into high gear. I don't want to have to repeatedly startle the chickens into a panic to train him. Any recommendations for a...

Marking in public
Hi, (sorry for the two threads in a row) I have a 1.5yr old rat terrier named Bax that I got in September. He was neutered when he was about 8 months old. We had a rough start potty training. My sister has a 3ish year old Chihuahua that she never potty trained and the smell of his urine saturated th...

Prey Drive Question
Hi, I have a 1.5yr old rat terrier named Bax that I got in September. He had a bit of a rough start growing up but I've slowly earned his trust and he's earned mine. This increase in trust has allowed me to finally let him off leash for the first time. He loves to run, has a ton of energy, and I'm b...

Is it separation anxiety?
My dog Bax is a year old Rat Terrier and he's my first dog. I'm home all day every day save for monday and wednesday where I'm gone from 12-5. His bladder control is iffy so he gets a lot of walks. We have four or five small training sessions four days a week and obedience class once a week. Everyth...
