Re: Dog eating

I have a friend who used to raise her own free-range chickens for eggs and meat. They lived an idyllic life, were handled lovingly, and would be completely relaxed in her arms being stroked right up to the moment she pulled their necks (no, I don't think I could  ). But she'd still have peopl...

Re: Dog eating

@LoQ that's valid. i can go with the "its cruel to farm them" theory, so long as its consistent and would allow hunting. i dont think thats why most people are protesting, but i can go with it =P

Re: Dog eating

So @LOQ you object to farming them but if i happened to come across a stray that had been a predatory scavenger its whole life id be okay with eating that one? And @ ZaraD there are plenty of people who love their pigs as much or more so then their dogs. one of my coworkers owns a pig that lives in ...

Dog eating

Not to get super controversial but i have a question. the Yulin dog eating festival is starting and everyone is all up in arms about dog eating. Why? i love dogs as much as the next person (prolly a bit more then some) but i think it's a bit hypocritical to protest the selling of dogs for meat and t...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Bax has progressed from "wanting to meet new dogs and then not liking them when he gets a sniff" to "actively lowering into a crouch when he sees new dogs and 'stalking' them until they get close and he can take a running leap at them." Baaaxxxttttteeeeerrrrrrrrr....................

Around Bax's third lap around the barn chasing a terrified chicken and ignoring my attempts to recall him I realized life somewhere had taken a turn I hadn't quite anticipated.

Re: Let's talk sighthounds

Also just saying I wouldn't trust A LOT of dogs off lead either. i consider off lead to be a privilege and not a right and not every dog gets that privilege. its not the end of the world if your dog needs to be kept on lead. Bax will chase anything to DEATH that is small and fluffy and no amount of ...

Re: Previous Dog Syndrome

i def think that with my next dog im going to be taking things slower, always playing the trading game, always telling people they're a bit shy (even if i have a big goofy dumb lab). im so cautious with bax and so hyper aware of his feelings i dont know WHAT id do with a normal, secure, mature, dog.

Re: Should I change to harness?

Bax wears a harness because he used to pull like crazy. he always just had it frotn clipped. then his pulling got better and at some point i switched to a back clip? not sure why? and he walks fine on it. hes kind all over the place but i prefer to let him wander around and sniff and if i tell him t...
