Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Evening! I am still here! It's been a hectic few weeks and I feel like Laufey has been somewhat neglected. The weather has also meant that his outdoor time has been reduced and I've been too tired so find the motivation to do much indoors with him. To combat this, I've joined a challenge group on Fa...

Re: First Post and Need Advice regarding the Giant Schnauzer
Personally, I wouldn't say there's really such a thing as a 'first time owner' dog. Different people have different wants and priorities in their companion so it's more finding what works for you. I'd say if you're done your research, met the breed, spent time with them and found a good supportive b...

Re: applaws vs Raw
I don't know about changing the formula, we've been raw now for over a year :D I agree with Judy, I'd look into more varied offal. I can't comment on the fruit and veg because I don't include it as part of the diet - I give greens as extras. I currently feed MVM, I only buy boneless meat minces and ...

Re: Post Bath Zoomies
Laufey gets the zoomies whenever he gets wet. So after a bath and if he's been out in the rain. Every time without fail.

Re: applaws vs Raw
I was always hoping to go raw (it was convincing my mum). The bonus for me is that with two freezers and buying in bulk it works out cheaper to feed raw

Re: applaws vs Raw
I fed applaws before going raw. IMO it's a pretty good food. My boy did better one one of the flavours though (tha lamb one) and he did do well on it. I can't comment on a cooked diet because I've never looked into it but overall the diet doesn't look bad to my knowledge

Re: Cats and Dogs
I'd say it's also in part cat specific. For instance, our male cat Loki will happily play with the dogs so the dogs are less likely to chase him off and more like to just watch him until he's close enough to play with. On the other hand, our female cat Luna won't play and so they're much more inclin...

Re: Vent!
Why do people not clean up after their dog?? A few months ago, our local park stopped supplying poo bags (something about council cuts) and whilst it wasn't perfect before, it's awful now. The council have recently painted "bag it and bin it" signs all over the floor but it's not making an...

Re: pet insurance
I can't really help with whether the £7000 would be enough but just a warning to really check the policies and make sure they're comparable. For instance with pet plan I know they do lifetime cover that renews every year. I have no idea about john lewis but have seem some "life" policies t...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Hmmm, I think it would be a good idea for me to start carrying a spare lead. Originally I didn't because I only use double ended leads for mine so if one snap broke we'd always have a second (and I didn't consider a harness failure). I considered getting one once I'd seen a roaming dog on our local ...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Judy, that's half the reason I've been apprehensive to use it. My main arguments against it are that a) I would hate someone to do it to my dog so why would I want to do it to someone else's and b) I'd be wary of the other dog flipping out. I think both would be valid reactions in you were the "...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
I'm glad they're all (mostly) okay now Nettle! Related to your experience of the day, you say you seized the lead and pulled the dog away, would you think it acceptable to carry another lead to wrangle a loose dog in a similar situation? I'm thinking for when both mum and I are out and a dog heads f...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Bless him Judy! Shalista, we've all done something to scare our dogs at point without meaning to, at least you realised and he was okay again quickly. I hope you're feeling better soon. The weather here has been awful recently, rain for weeks, but this morning I managed to get Laufey out with a full...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Good luck with the ramp, and I hope Annie's doing okay (is saying I hope it's a UTI slightly the wrong sentiment?) I think I'm lucky in that respect Erica - so long as he can't see it when I say enough, or I put his lead on and clip his ball back to me, he knows we're moving on and will explore the ...
