Re: Hunting with dogs
I have a freiend who has been fox hunting once, when it was legal, and bdrag hunting once last year...sjhe said there was no difference in the speed.distance/madness of the riders orthe hunt. Your friend is lying, you spend more time standing still while the hounds try to find the scent that racing...

Re: What types of dogs?
How big is the white dog? This is Bertie, a dog I fostered just before Christmas, if I couldn't turn him round he would have been pts. Bertie is a JRT/Maltese, quite a combination but adorable. He had just been clipped which is why he had a jumper on. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v312/Net...

Re: staffordshire bull terrier behaviour????
As Emmabeth said, vet as fast as you can, she could be in pain which is why she is barking, Staffies are known for not showing pain so if they do it is really bad. From a Staffy point of view, thank you for taking this little girl in, Staffies are having a very rough time at the moment and they are ...

Re: Help with my White Westhighland Terrier
Welcome to the forum. :D I always put my dogs on Cortaflex for arthritis, it is much better than painkillers and it isn't a drug, depending on which country you live on were you get it. In the USA www.cortaflex.com in the UK wwwcortaflex.co.uk. I have this myself and know how well it works, it made ...

Re: "Come"/Distraction Issues
OKay I'm going to try to address some of the things you have posted: Dog Food - As far as buying expensive dog food over cheaper dog food, i'm sorry, but dogs will eat anything they can get into. There are FAR worse things they can be eating. I refuse to spend more money on my dog's food than on my...

Re: Hunting with dogs
I heard a bugle - so it wasn't a hunt, I know they don't hunt this time of the year. I was just saying it's a chilling sound. It was that sound - maybe some event or someone mucking about. I love the sound of a hunting horn, it has nothing to do with the hunt. I live in brass band country so maybe ...

Re: Update - Jack, diarrhea, food
We are here for the rants as well as the good times, there are times when we have to get things off our chest because they are getting to me, a good rant makes a big difference :D If you had got Jack from a rescue it doesn't mean that you would have been told the truth about him, I stopped getting d...

Re: Update - Jack, diarrhea, food
I had something similar when I had my horse, hubby couldn't understand why he needed so much time spent on him or how much his food cost etc. It didn't help when he came home from work to find I had bought him instead of getting contact lens. Told hubby I had saved him £10 on the cost, I had T...

Re: Heartbroken at strange agression
She will adapt to it a lot quicker than you will :D Dogs can slip out of collars, she may be better with a well fitted harness on instead. I am going away or the weekend as well, weather doesn't look too good but that doesn't worry us, we are comfy inside a caravan with a fire to keep us warm if it ...

Re: Aggressive behavior
A sudden change in a dog's behaviour like this your dog needs to be taken to the vet for a full check-up including bloods, many things can show up in bloods before symptoms show. Once your dog gets the all clear from the vet we will be able to help you but that has to be your first call.

Re: Humane or not?
Boars are dangerous animals, you can't ask a dog to help kill them even if it is just flushing them out, you wouldn't ask a dog to help with a lion or tiger, maybe boars are not as bad but if a dog has to have protective vests on it is obviously too dangerous. I would shoot them providing the gun is...

I can't kill either Ladybug, I used to go to the New Year's Day meet, the only time I saw a hare was when we were all sitting round on our horses waiting, it ran through the horses legs and escaped  That hunt used to hunt hares mainly but could also hunt foxes. A lot of emotion has been b...

Re: Humane or not?
Dogs are much better at killing wild animals than shooting will ever be, during the Second World War hunting in the UK was stopped, my uncle had a farm in North Wales and the area was over run with foxes because there wasn't any hunting. The farmers got together and paid several marksmen to come and...
