Re: Allow playing?
Dog parks aren't necessarily the best place to learn socialization. Many dogs at dog parks are very ill-mannered and it could actually do worse for a dog to be forced into a dog park situation for the sake of "socialization." Yep ditto. Dog parks are generally an awful idea, unless you pe...

I can't find them anywhere!! Also, my mom has a friend in Ireland and she always sends over those Cadbury Roses assortment of chocolates in the big tin box. Hmm I think I just need to move over there since you guys have all the good chocolate

Re: Whining
Stop squirting him with water, at best he'll just think it's a game. Talking to him to "reassure" him is just giving him attention reinforcing the barking/whining. Also, his crate should never be for punishment purposes. Does he ONLY do this when he sees a dog on TV? what about a dog outsi...

Re: Personal Trainer on Four Legs
I'm not a huge chocolate person... it gives me heartburn and I just don't really care for how it tastes. However, I found orange chocolate made by Lindt and OHMIGOD! It's wonderful! The bar is segmented into little 1"x1" squares, so I think I'm just going to have to section it off so I gi...

Re: Confused....
It could be a reason due to what the owners have used before. They could have been saying "stop" when the dog was barking, making it ineffective, so she uses "quiet" instead. But as for training purposes, I can't remember why, but she did explain once the difference between "...

Re: Energy burst (zoomie)
Yah when we went to the petstore the day we needed to get a long line, they only had a 15 ft leash in the regular nylon material. The bigger ones were those cable ones that connect to the "tie out" metal things you twist into the ground, and I don't like those

Re: Personal Trainer on Four Legs
My personal trainer picks fights with others  I extended our walk today to an hour since it's been cool and breezy today. Well towards the end she saw a bird hopping in the grass. I'm pretty sure it was injured because it wouldn't fly off, it just hopped around. Cadence starts lunging at the bi...

Re: Energy burst (zoomie)
Hmm if I got a 30 ft line I would have to hold one end. My dad just informed me there's a large patch of grass behind a big office building that's right around the corner from our apartment complex, so I may take her there after our 30 min night walk (after 5pm and everyone's gone of course  )...

Few more easy tips.. (I searched through to see if anyone mentioned it) is to cut out soda! Aside from all the other reasons soda is unhealthy, you'll definitely notice a difference once you stop drinking it. I'm a soda junkie. So I limit myself to only drinking it if I'm out to dinner. and if I abs...

Re: Energy burst (zoomie)
Just re-read your post, does she get any playtime on the lead, or are you working on things at the moment? Maybe she gets home and has "brain ache" and just needs to go mad to get rid of the physical energy to balance it out again! Try making time for a few minutes of play outside before ...

Re: Energy burst (zoomie)
Hey you could try leaving the harness and leash on for a few minutes after you get inside so Cadence can have a cooldown period before being "free" to zoomie. oooh good idea! I will combine both your advice & Fundogs, leave the leash&harness on and give her a little something to do!
