Re: Bull mastiff gender?

Hi Scarletsci- well I asked she said she believes dogs are dogs first then breed group then breed then individual dog. But she basically does not think any dog will be easy because there all individuals she said you could own tow of the same breed and you will still have problems with the second as...

You were right, Fundog, she does have lupus. :(

Re: Bull mastiff gender?

Hi all Thanks for your advice. I contacted her and asked what made her choose the bullmastiff she said she fell for them in crufts and has done a lot of research on the breed and has spent time with them she has also found a positive trainer\behaviourist who is experienced with aggressive, fearful,...

Re: Bull mastiff gender?

I would say it applies as well. There are many reasons females make better first dogs, in my opinion, one of them, particularly with the more powerful breeds, is they are less likely to go through more reactive/aggressive periods and potentially receive aggression/posturing from strange dogs when a ...

Re: Vent!

Well, it sucked. Hurt worse than the first appointment, but still not as bad as the toothagony was. And it's done for now. I go back next week for the crown and second filling. :(

Re: Bull mastiff gender?

Yep, a female would be better for a first time. Heck of a breed to pick for a first time dog owner? Or is she just a first time mastiff owner?

ETA: I see you already made it clear it's her first dog ever. Sorry, not on the ball today.

Re: Choosing breeds?

I'm concerned that you're so caught up in your lists of requirements and wishes, that no dog is ever going to fit perfectly into, that you're making this impossible for any dog to live up to. If you all live together, why is the exercise limited to 1hr 45 mins? Is that the maximum you personally can...

Re: Vent!

Thanks Nettle. I think its because I'm not in any pain so don't know if I should have them done or not incase I feel worser after and I was not in pain before? If my experience has taught me anything, it's to go now, before there is pain! I didn't go back for my scheduled root canal, and that agoni...

Re: Help! Mystery skin condition, even vet is stumped.

Update on Dini, not good news though I'm afraid. When she went under the anesthesia for the deep tissue biopsy last Friday, she went into renal failure, which led to cardiac arrest. They managed to revive her, and she's been on dialysis to clean her blood. She's in a cancer care center. :(

Re: Vent!

I had an abscess once, not as painful as your tooth by the sounds of it, but not nice. I had some codeine for it - I needed a course of antibiotics to deal with the infection before they could give me the root canal treatment - woke up in the night in pain but managed to dream that I took the codei...

Re: Vent!

Cocodamol has paracetamol in too, so you can't take them together either - I think there's more of a risk of overdosing with paracetamol as it can be dangerous at quite low dosages. Thank you love, I knew about paracetamol and cocodamol, so wouldn't combine them. I won't be taking any more morphine...

Re: Vent!

That sounds awful :-( I hope you feel much better tomorrow! Is it safe to take cocodamol with morphine? Cocodamol turns into morphine in your body so it means you're getting a double whammy.... I did not know that... first time I've ever taken morphine, and didn't know that about cocodamol either. ...

Re: Vent!

Just as I was getting ready to take the dogs out for a second walk, I was struck by unbelievable pain. Toothache. Although the word toothache doesn't do justice to the pain, it was toothagony. My mum even gave me a couple of her morphine tablets on top of the cocodemol I took, even those combined di...

Re: GSD breeders \ type

Hi Nettle I think what I need to do is learn about the look and type of GSD more and understand it all more. Do you know of any books or websites that might help me understand better as I don't really understand it? I have had a second look and I still can't see if or how there bad ( as I'm presumi...
