Re: The Beauty of Clicker Training
As always, sound advice! Thx for the help. I really like the "snapshot" analogy emma. I will have to steal that phrase! Anyway, I have began some targeting practice with pepe and it is going great! as for the girl I pretty much did what you mentioned jacksdad. I had the girl face away and ...

The Beauty of Clicker Training
To many of the regular users in this forum... You have accompanied me in my transition to a MWD Handler to MWD Instructor to a Petco Dog Trainer. You all have given me so much great insight and a completely different perspective on training and the use of a strictly positive based training structure...

Now, before everybody tells me how much Petco sucks or whatever, I just want to say one thing. Every good dog trainer starts s...

Water?
About how old does a dog have to be before you should start introducing water? How about ocean (beaches)? I know the salt water can play havoc on them. How early before they can be expected to swim on their own? Finally whats the best way to introduce water to a dog? How about a puppy?

Re: Hunting: A Humane Practice?
Again playing devils advocate jacksdad, but it is a stretch to compare a lion to a human. At least as relevant to the emotions of killing an innocent animal. We as humans are civilized. Lions are not.

Re: Hunting: A Humane Practice?
It was a book that I read as a child. One of my favorites, it is about a boy and his two hunting dogs.... Excellent book, although I'm not sure how it would read nowadays. But I highly recommend it to any dog lover especially somebody who has hunting dogs!

Re: Excessive Protective Barking
I apologize Tori's mum but I am having a bit of difficulty in understanding the problem... It seems that you would like your dog to bark at only intruders coming into your house at night but no one else correct? If this is the case than you may be asking too much from Tori. For the most part it is j...
