Ever hear of a herding Pomeranian?

Our dog Yogi makes us laugh each and every day. His newest thing is herding us to bed. He will literally nudge each leg as I walkm until I get to the bedroom and then go back and get my husband and do the same thing to him. It is hilarious! If one of us walks back out he'll follow and do the same th...

Re: Episode 302 - The Castle Goes to the Dogs (Jan 15)

While I did learn a bit about clicker training, I have to honestly say I'm disappointed in this season's first two episodes. I think the show should focus on regular, every day people and their regular, normal dog problems, as opposed to those living in a castle and luxury apartments. All the dogs s...

Re: Episode 218 - Puppy Special - May 22

I thought it was a great episode, and would love to see more shows with puppy issues, because a lot of adult dog problems probably arise from mistakes made when they were puppies. As a new puppy owner, I can honestly say it's a full-time job. I have a couple of questions. My 5-month-old Pomeranian p...

Re: When do puppies become sexually mature?

After calling my vet about the humping and the new aggressive behaviors (mouthing-humping-challenging commands), he recommends getting him neutered. The umbilical hernia is quite small, about the size of a nickel, however the vet does think that it will grow as he grows and will eventually have to b...

When do puppies become sexually mature?

I apologize if this is in the wrong category. I didn't know what category to put it in. I've read all the forums and it seems there are a lot of different opinions about whether to neuter or spay. My 5-month Pomeranian has an umbilical hernia that needs repair, and the vet said he could do that when...

Re: Separation Anxiety - Poo Eating (Coprophagy)

My five-month old Pomeranian eats his poop, no matter if he's going outside or inside, we have to catch him immediately. My vet recommended putting meat tenderizer over his puppy kibble and it's supposed to taste good going down, but very nasty coming out... it discourages them from eating it. I hav...

Re: Pomeranian Puppy has no fear- acts like a cat!

Oh and I just noticed you asked how to stop him jumping up in the first place? I wonder if the "Stop" command would work if you see him attemping to jump? It doesn't, he doesn't understand stop... he'll hesitate from the tone of my voice for about a millisecond but no, he doesn't stop. Do...

Re: Pomeranian Puppy has no fear- acts like a cat!

I'm definitely interested in agility because it seems like it's something he's extremely interested in. For a five-month old puppy he sure is agile. Most puppies I've seen at that age are rather clumsy. He balances on the back of chairs and couches and prances around like a horse sometimes moving ea...

Re: Pomeranian Puppy has no fear- acts like a cat!

Don't bother with telling him "no" - he doesn't know what it means, and you are doing much better already by giving him the down command and then rewarding him when he does come down. And please don't lift him off - you might well end up teaching him to be defensive which would be a terri...

Re: Pomeranian Puppy has no fear- acts like a cat!

[quote="bikersblu"] The only thing I can think of is something I had to do with Leo when he tired to go downstairs when he was little (his legs never quite made the next step lol) We had to put obstacles in the way as it were. On the stairs I would always make sure I was in front of him, a...

Pomeranian Puppy has no fear- acts like a cat!

We have recently added a wonderful addition to our family, a beautiful five-month old Chocolate Pomeranian named Yogi. He is our first family dog though we did grow up with dogs as children. We watch "It's Me Or The Dog" religiously, and my entire family is doing terrific in training our n...
