how can i stop riley being so excited when he see's another

hi all,

i was wondering what i can do to stop riley pulling and jumping around when we are out walking when he see's another dog?!?! he gets so excited and i cannot control him!
please help me!!!

Hi All, I have has enough with my 7 month old lab pup Riley!! He will not walk nicely on his lead at all and he really hurts my hands when he pulls!!!! I do not know what else i can do to stop him from pulling! i have tried 3 different head collars, 2 different non-pull harnesses, stoping dead still...

thanks mattie!!! i think the tiredness is playing a good part in me feeling so bad, but i would of felt bad anyway as i really did hurt him and he made an almighty yelp :( i think i am going to have an early night and watch some tv in bed! i might take a glass of wine up with me as i have half a bot...

thanks for replying to my post! i understand and agree that to be dominent in an agressive and violent way is deffinatley not the way to treat or train a dog!
The reason for the post was to try and understand in what way people who have dogs and train dogs view the word 'dominence'!

i do find the general commands like 'stay' quite useful as i dont let Riley have free roam of the house, if i go into the garage i ask him to wait at the door as i don't allow him there because there is alot in there that could harm him! also in the evenings when the kids are in bed, after his walk ...
