Re: Advice Needed for Crating an Adult Dog with Potty Problems
Yep, he was tested for all of that. Nothing showed up as being a health issue. There are also no issues with him and my other dog. How long should I be crating him before I can trust him or should try letting him out when I am gone? He hasn't had the issue his whole life, the first 3 years he was fi...

Advice Needed for Crating an Adult Dog with Potty Problems
I posted on this subject several months ago but then had computer issues and was not able to follow up online for a possible resolution. So, if this sounds familiar, it probably is but I also have some new information to add. One of my two dogs, who is a 4 and 1/2 year old golden retriever mix, has ...

Re: Obsessive Behavior Help!
So glad to read this and know my dog isn't the only one obsessed with shadows/reflections! In my case though, it's more the reflections. I can't even do dishes with her near (I do not have a dishwasher) because the water reflects on the ceiling and she goes insane. High pitched, barking/yelping, sta...

Re: Help me save my sanity and my new floors!
Yep, he has been to the vet and all checked out OK. In fact, I've had him checked for issues ever since he was a puppy. I had never seen a dog pee so much when I was training him. Once he got the hang of it he was fine on the carpet. Then, he had that accident on the hardwood floors and once the cha...

Re: Help me save my sanity and my new floors!
Ha. After what I paid to have these floors done, I'm not relocating anywhere for a loooong time! :D There are a few reasons it would be hard (but not impossible) to have him in a different room - aside from being afraid he'll start peeing somewhere else too. For one, the way my house is set up, deny...

Help me save my sanity and my new floors!
Hello. I have two dogs, ages 3 and 4 (soon to be 4 and 5) and I'm having a problem with the younger one. He is a neutered, male, golden retriever/lab mix and when I am gone he keeps peeing in the same area on the floor! This really became an issue early last year. I had my carpet taken up about a ye...

Re: Clicker Training - Heres How!
In trying to clicker train a dog who does not like it/growls/tries to walk between me and another animal when I (not other people, just me) pet other dogs, when would I click? Also, my reward would be affection because I don't want to use food around other dogs but wouldn't this perpetuate the probl...

Re: Dog Protective of Me Around Other Dogs
Yes, his actions are definitely for his benefit. As it is, at the dog park, it's difficult to not approach or be approached by other dogs. I do my best to ignore them altogether though and, as you said, walk away. Doesn't this feed into the issue though? Because that's what my dog wants...for me to ...

Dog Protective of Me Around Other Dogs
I have a 3 1/2 year old Golden/Lab mix who exhibits a behavior I don't know how to correct. When I show affection to another dog, he will either growl or try to walk inbetween me and the animal. He only does this with me. Interestingly, other people can be petting him and another dog at the same tim...

Re: Dog being protective/territorial?
I did. All checked out ok. I'm starting to think he's just being normal letting dogs know to stay away?

Re: Dog DARES us and loves to be chased!
I have a VERY high energy dog that will do the same thing! For instance, she will jump up on counters/tables, knock over my purse and/or grab the keys/wallet/phone/mail/etc., and bring them to me, just out of reach, with the intention of getting me to chase her. And...she's almost 4. Fact of the mat...

Re: Dog being protective/territorial?
What bothers me most about these reactions is that they are so inconsistent; it puts me on edge never knowing which dog is going to set him off. It's also odd at home because neither of my dogs is clearly dominant. That changes daily. I think he knowingly tries to intimidate her though when he wants...

Dog being protective/territorial?
Hello. I have two dogs but the one I'm writing about is a two and a half year old, 90 pound, golden retriever/yellow lab mix. I have had him since he was 8 weeks old, he was neutered at 6 months and has been well socialized. He is a very calm, healthy, well-mannered, "perfect" pet who love...

Re: Dog VS. Vacuum
That's exactly it. Within a few minutes, he would stop barking to get the treat and then start as soon as he ate it. So, I quickly had to stop that and try moving on to something else! Actually, the way he eats, maybe I should just make him my vacuum
