Re: Seeking Advice -Disabled Dog

Hi I mainly wanted to say good on you for taking on such a special needs dog. I have an almost blind dog. When he moved in I bought some wrist/ankle bells so he would always know where I was but I never used them as he always knows anyway! A friend who adopted a blind dog which had been chained up o...

Re: kibble

There are those who think that kibble was invented by evil corporations to harm pets, and that vets push kibble because they want your dog to get ill so they can make money out of you. In my experience vets tend to push the 'prescription' kibble when your dog is actually ill but some of that prescr...

Re: Resource guarding or what?

Re: Ben

Thanks Since the say 'cheese' pic his body and coat condition have improved enormously - even our unsentimental local farmers admire him. I prefer floppy ears in a border collie though. Even when he is asleep his ears are upright. I call them his 'cartoon ears' :D Plus he is just so responsive, peop...

Re: Resource guarding or what?

Thanks Judy. Have posted some pics of him.
My last border collie was so laid back you could even rearrange her on her bed with no negative reaction.
I was probably lulled into a false sense of security!

Re: Resource guarding or what?

Thank you all and thanks for the link. Will take a look at it Ben sleeps in my bedroom but it took a while getting there. First even a bed seemed alien to him and he preferred to rest in cold hard spots. So it was nice when he finally 'adopted' his bed in the lounge. Then it seemed he had never enco...

Resource guarding or what?

Have just posted in Introductions about Ben, my border collie rescue. Ben has been with me for 10 months. He was picked up as a stray with some broken chain round his neck and is believed to have previously been a farm dog. He is around 8 years old, neutered (by the Rescue) and is almost blind. He c...

Introducing me and Ben

Hello from Cumbria in NW UK Ben and I live in a tiny farming village just outside the Lake District. He is an 8 year old border collie rescue who adopted me around 10 months ago. My last dog was a border collie too - I had her from a puppy and she died at over 16 - having been given 2 months to live...
