Re: What is she?!
Foxtrot, I was looking at your photos again and wondering if there could be any spaniel in there? It was something about the expression and head carriage, and it would tie in with the gundog type. Have a search for images of springadors and see what you think. Not sure if the ears are big enough th...

Re: What is she?!
This was her when she arrived three weeks ago, very thin and smelly,
She has in under a month gone from 6.5kg to just over 11 still too thin, very waisted, but getting better.
Again she's much lighter brown in reality

Re: What is she?!
The photos don't really show her physique - a side-on photo of her standing would be good. I can see chocolate lab but not anything else really. If there's a bit of lurcher in there, it often shows up when they run - they really stretch out, then coil, and stretch... Sometimes it's only when a dog ...

Re: What is she?!
idk what she is except gorgeous =) you're such a lucky fur mama =) I just can't make my mind up. I did wonder if there could be a bit of a lurchery thing going on but now she's finally putting on weight I think that was just her skinniness that gave that impression as she really doesn't look that w...

Re: Springer Spaniel- HELP!
There are also these things called 'tug a jugs' if he works the kongs out too quickly / gets bored if you give him a frozen one. It's basically a bottle with a rope in the end, they have to pull the rope / swing it (not to be used near televisions / vases / picture frames) to get the bits out and ou...

Re: Persistent Loose Stools 4/5 month old pup
Hey, it was Panacur (Fenbendazole) so fairly standard sort of thing, from the vet. Thought she might have a touch of giardiasis as well so it seemed the best option and a five day course. I know it doesn't deal with tapeworm but am hoping she doesn't have that. Next wormer will be tapeworm specific ...

Re: Persistent Loose Stools 4/5 month old pup
Diatomaceous Earth is a sort of dust with sharp edges that can reportedly kill parasites and insects by getting under their exoskeleton, but doesn't usually harm larger creatures (though it would not be good to get in your lungs). I'm not aware of any claimed health benefits beyond that, but there ...

Re: Persistent Loose Stools 4/5 month old pup
Thank you, I'm googling that now. Is it a probiotic? I've only seen the one roundworm, 100% a roundworm, so bit confused with by that as I expected if there's one...there will be more? Oh and believe me I've been looking. She has been wormed and they say not collectively but individually so not sure...

Re: Persistent Loose Stools 4/5 month old pup
Personel experience? Bax was on kibble and started pooping rivers of blood. switched him to prescription kibble that was mostly corn, the blood mostly cleared up but i still got mucousy runny poops. Switched him to raw and he now has nice firm poops (sometimes a little to firm if i goof and give hi...

Re: Puppy afraid of downstairs bathroom
Floor (tiles)... smell... different light or less light... anything, really. Is this an issue though? I'd leave her be, praise/reward her when she finds the courage to venture in, and let her take her time making sure it's as safe place. Not overly it's just strange how she stops at the threshhold

Re: Persistent Loose Stools 4/5 month old pup
It is what dogs are 'designed' to eat, and would of course eat in the wild. They have a shorter digestive tract than humans and strong stomach acid designed to deal with bacteria. Remember, dogs still drink from stagnant ponds and lick their bums (generally) without problems! There's a long thread ...

Re: Persistent Loose Stools 4/5 month old pup
What is the thinking behind a raw diet? I would have thought she'd be at greater risk of bacterial nasties on raw? I obviously need to do some reading.
It could be a dietary thing I suppose, I had thought, given the 'bits', perhaps a grain allergy as she's not digesting part of her food?
