Thinks it's play time
Hi I'm after a bit of advice for our 8 month german shorthaired pointer, he is generally well behaved and comes back to us 95% of the time when called. Our issue is that when he comes back to us he stops about 2ft away and when you go to reward him he starts to jump around and edge away from us. We ...

Hi all
We have a rubber mitt for Oggy (german shorthaired pointer) it doesn't get enough of his dead hair or doggy dandruff out is there a better brush to use?
Thanks

Re: Recall around other dogs
Hi, I can't say that my 19 week puppy has great recall but we are getting there slowly, sometimes he will come back from another dog no problem other times he won't. We try to let him off when we know there are no roads close by, we use a dog whistle and his treat for coming back is chicken. He neve...

Re: Walking issues
Hi JudyN, I have no problem with him being on the sofa but wasn't sure if I'd be sending mixed signals when I didn't want him on there. It's so confusing what you read sometimes. We also don't want him to think he can go on the sofa whenever he wants as when we visit friends and family etc we don't ...

Re: Walking issues
Thanks Nettle, we have a crate for him (in the kitchen/dining room which can be seen from the living room) which he is in when there is no one in the house, but when we are in the living room he wants to be on the sofa (this has only started in the last few weeks). I will try to find something comfy...

Re: Walking issues
Hi thanks for the advice, JudyN I don't think we want to give him mixed signals so probably best to say no to going on the furniture at all. It has been a while since I have had a puppy so need to remember to keep our kitchen sides clear as he gets bigger. I know he will calm down eventually it is j...

Walking issues
Hi, I have posted a few times on here and the advice I have been given has been so helpful. Oggy is now 4months old and we are getting there slowly with him, recall is going well so far, as is his lead walking. This last week he has started to jump up and bite while walking (he goes metal). We try t...

Had a scare....
Hi all, my partner and I had a scare tonight with our 15 week old puppy, we have been working on recall (not as strict as we should be) and trusting Oggy off the lead only in safe areas and not when there are distractions. We walked him across from our house (in a quiet cul de sac) to an open field,...

Re: Car troubles
Oggy's daily routine is normally out for a 15-20 min walk around 7.45-8am then breakfast once he has been in for 15 mins. I work from home so he is normally in my office with me, walk at around 1pm then lunch, dinner at 5pm-6pm, we then like to take him to the beach or park for a walk but normally h...

Car troubles
Hi all, Oggy (12 week old german shorthaired pointer) has no issue with getting in the car however if someone is sat in the back (Oggy has a harness) he bites and if my partner and I are both sat in the front he growls bites and barks, I'm not sure what to do, our car is not big enough for the crate...

Crate training
Hi all, the advice I had on helping to combat Oggy's biting has been a god send, so I was hoping for some more help. Oggy's sleeps in his crate at night no problems, we try and put him in there at points through the day but he goes crazy barking and howling, I know it's because he just wants to be w...
