"What a well-behaved dog"

In the parking lot of Petsmart on Sunday and I had Coda doing "wait" at the crosswalk, and he was sitting and waiting with no pulling just looking up at me while cars drove by... A couple walking out of the store who had watched this said "what a well-behaved dog!" I'm so pleased...

Re: Pup scared of people! Help needed

My recent trick with my pup, who is always disturbed by men on our walks, is to always have some extra large treats with me and as we walk towards the guy I click and stuff a big treat in his mouth so by the time we walk past the man Coda is chewing on his treat and doesn't pay any attention to the ...

Re: Mistreated Nervous Dog Kabul

I'm so glad to hear that things are going well. Dogs have an amazing resilience, and even after terrible abuse they can still be able to move forward. You are doing such a good thing-thank you :D

The above link is a great example of how to approach training a puppy... Very easy and relaxed.
I began training my puppy from day 1 (8 weeks) and he quickly picked up the sit, down etc...
I've found training my puppy to be a lot of fun. :D

Re: Mistreated Nervous Dog Kabul

You are doing a wonderful thing in taking this obviously abused animal and trying to give it a better life.
Try to keep track of all of the tiny positive steps that you will take together :) it will give you hope when you have the inevitable bumps in the road!
Good luck!

Small but so good!

I've been working on getting my puppy to lie on a bed next to the sofa and then jump up onto and off of the sofa when commanded... And he just lay down on the bed, turned around, lay down and started chewing a toy! I feel so satisfied and proud of us :P Seems so small but to get this rambunctious gu...

Lurker finally joining in...

I've been reading pretty regularly since I got my puppy in December 2012. I am Louise and my puppy is Coda, a red cocker spaniel who just turned 6 months. I've had 2 other dogs, Elgar-cocker spaniel and Guinness-flatcoated retriever, both of whom were rescues. I'm excited to be training a dog from t...

Stunning dog training!

Watched 101 Dalmations tonight ( the modern one) and the dog traing that went into it was absolutely stunning... I probably noticed it this time watching because I am working so hard to train my dog right now, and I just want LLW! :D
