Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Very sorry to her about Sky, Sirius and Helen.. They were such good girls! But I think a Samoyed was meant to be in your life. Today we tried to reenact one of our favorite photographs with Ari-Protector-Of-The-Universe. A+ for effort.... but we are who we are, and although Baby Miles tried his best...

Re: An unpleasant incident
You did great, in my books! And little Alphie is a lucky dog! A long time ago my then 11 m.o. Ridgeback was attacked in a similar scenario by a loose SharPei, and it ended with SharPei being rushed to an emergency vet and then long recovery before he could walk again. And I am a fairly big and stron...

Re: Over-excitement around feeding times
"Preparing meal" - is this a time consuming process? My boy is not very patient either, when it comes to food :-) But we feed him kibble, so "preparing" really means just getting a bowl, putting some water in it, then kibble, mixing it up, adding a bit of fish oil, and letting it...

Re: Clouds and Silver Linings
I feel the opposite :D Both I and Baby Miles love when humans and dogs come over, even if they gallop over like mad rhinos. Now everyone keeps their distance... no one says hello to the giant puppy, despite all his attempts to call attention by laying down and looking very cute, as others pass us by...

Re: Baby Miles - more action on the beach
Just a few of the recent action shots. Baby Miles is a well known character on the beach, one that brings energy to every group of dogs he encounters, winding everyone up. Surprisingly, most dogs and humans like him (I think), or at least don't mind too much. But some I need to keep him away from, e...

Baby Miles - running hound
Nothing quite like watching a sighthound tearing the ground, flying.... Love it!

Re: Baby Miles - encounters, and a scary thought
We both have a strong feeling that Miles would love it. 3 times the work :D I guess - still ready physically and mentally, but there’s just not enough hours in a day. Need to not have to go to work. Not sure how much discipline can help with freeing up time. I think we both have a strong feeling tha...

Re: Dog whistle
I guess this is some kind of device that emits unpleasant (for the dog, at least) sound? My 2 cents - I try not to set an objective of "training NOT to do something". If the dog has an undesired behavior - I would look at this as training to do something different instead. In simple terms,...

Baby Miles - encounters, and a scary thought
This is for those who like pictures :D Some of the (mostly funny) moments from the last few days..... and a scary thought at the end. http://milestheridgeback.yolasite.com/resources/2019/12252019/B1.jpg http://milestheridgeback.yolasite.com/resources/2019/12252019/B2.jpg http://milestheridgeback.yol...

Re: Doesn’t Play With Toys
It may also be that he will become more active as a result of losing weight, not the other way around.... So, perhaps reduced food intake and just let him settle in is worth the shot, and see how things progress.

Re: Doesn’t Play With Toys
Our boy is not that much interested in his toys either. However - always interested in stealing things that don't belong to him. For example - leave a pair of socks unattended, and you are up for some good workout chasing him through the house. Just saying - try different things.... some paper bags ...

Baby Miles - more action on the beach
Something we could not enjoy with Ari - seeing Baby Miles running on the beach with other dogs. He loves it, and so do we :D 13 m.o. today - still looks like a giant puppy, I think. http://milestheridgeback.yolasite.com/resources/2019/12212019/B1.jpg http://milestheridgeback.yolasite.com/resources/2...
