Sasha

Post by bendog »

So when we move out Sash will officially become mine. She's a Welsh Terrier, 7 and a half years old.
Probably won't be moving til Christmas or just afterwards, but I will need lots of advice on how to help her both behaviourally and with her allergies.
As you can probably tell from the first photo she is not a well dog at all (look at her paws, and she's rubbed all the hair off her chest)
- I'll take some close ups of her paws and ears soon to show you all just how bad it really is.

But the other pictures hopefully show that she could be a cracking happy little dog with a bit of effort.

She really is a good looking old girl, despite aging prematurely, due to neglect. :( I had a friend who had an Airedale, and his married daughter and husband later adopted an Irish Terrier puppy (my friend was amused to be a "grandpa" to a dog). After seeing them, the fuzzy-plush-toy-looking-working-hunting terriers were somewhere in my top ten list of dog breed preferences when I was looking for Annie. 8)

Yeah, she is just a mini Airedale basically, Poppy will look similar when she's grown up (she's a Lakeland - http://www.positively.com/forum/viewtop ... 31&t=13079)

I'm not a fan of the fuzzy terriers myself, I prefer the scruffy Borders and Cairns, but I do think Sasha is a stunning dog when she's feeling healthy, and she loves the beach.

Be warned though Fundog - they are very stubborn, independent dogs! And incredibly bossy!

I've talked about Sasha's allergies before...these few pictures are just to give you an indication of how bad they really are.
She been a lot better the last few weeks (due to steroids) but often her paws actually bleed, and her ear usually stinks.

You can see that theres virtually no actual ear canal left, just scar tissue

Her bum and lady parts are also very inflamed and sore but I didn't want to take a picture of those :P
If she continues to improve hopefully I'll be able to post the "after" pictures when she's a lot better

Here are a couple of rare photos of all three dogs together!

It's in Sashas photo thread since she got most out of the walk I think. Ben and Pops always have big walks, but it's rarer for Sash because of her allergies, though we try to take her here every weekend so she can have a proper run.

Keeping an eye on who's going past (this will stop when we move and hopefully reduce Sashas barking)
The was a funny moment earlier where the two dogs and the toddler were all looking out of the window, but I didn't have my camera or phone on me so I couldn't get a pic.

Someone didn't tuck the chair back under the table which means Sasha can use it to climb on and help herself to food!

(please excuse how awful Sasha's bum looks on this - she missed a couple of weeks of her steroids and so she's been itching like mad and rubbed her chest and bum red raw - the steroids are also why she is so overweight)

SASHA PLAYING!

The last few weeks is the first time I've ever known Sasha play in over 3 years of living with her. So we must be getting somewhere.
